CWT say Women Bookings Save Money

If you’re looking to save money on flights, let your female counterpart book the flights.

According to Carlson Wagonlit Travel’s (CWT) analysis of air booking transactions, women book their flights 1.9 days earlier than males and save an average of two per cent on flight tickets.

While this may be good news for travellers, for companies it goes the other way.

For companies with 1,000 business travellers, the difference is just under $50,000 a year – rising to $1 million for a traveller base of 20,000.

The report also found that people are more likely to book flights in advance the older they are. Additionally, as people’s flying frequency increases, they will typically book flights closer to departure.

Catalin Ciobanu, Senior Directir Data & Analytics in the CWT Solutions Group, said that the new analysis technique opens an array of possibilities to understand traveller behaviour and develop more personalisation techniques.

“This analysis technique opens up a whole new range of opportunities in the quest for personalised travel. It can also be applied to many other types of traveller segmentation, including geography or the booking channel used.

“Ultimately, by knowing our travellers better we can both improve their experience, as well as the effectiveness and efficiency of corporate travel programs,” she said.
