Hilton brews plan to win business

Hilton has launched its first worldwide MICE promotion since the global financial crisis as the hotel giant sees to differentiate itself from its competitors.

The offer is valid for bookings made between September 1 and November 15 for meetings to be held before March 31, and includes a complimentary coffee break on arrival for each day of the meeting, or a 15% discount off the daily delegate rate with Hhonors Bonus Points also up for grabs.

Vice president operations for Hilton Worldwide in Australasia Paul Hutton told media at Hilton’s Sydney property yesterday that he was confident the idea would appeal to the Australian obsession with coffee.

“We’re proudly anal about our coffee in Australia,” he explained.

“It’s a simple premise – have a cup of coffee on us. It’s a real statement to the industry saying that we will back ourselves.”

The promotion is expected to keep bookings strong at a time of year which has traditionally been “a bit hit or miss” with Easter coming forward described as “big issue”.

“April will have a different dynamic than it would normally.”

Hilton has had a local partnership in place with coffee supplier Vittoria since 2000, with Hutton underlining the “shared goals” of the two companies.

“It’s not just about volume, it’s about quality,” he said.
