ICC Sydney unveils world-class facilities

An exclusive Showcase Dinner held within the spectacular Grand Ballroom of Sydney’s new International Convention Centre (ICC) last week, impressed guests with its world-class capabilities.

Leaders from across Sydney’s business, entertainment, media, academic and events communities were invited as part of a calendar of 30 ‘test events’ aimed to trial the many features of the building before its official launch in December. Amongst its many striking facets, the ICC boasts five star convention and exhibition centres, three individual theatre spaces including the 9,000 capacity ICC Sydney theatre, home to Australia’s biggest stage area, and state-of-the-art kitchens that are the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.

“The Showcase Dinner was a fantastic success…I am looking forward to seeing the precinct in full action and am pleased to say that we have an impressive array of secured events – from performances by international superstars like Keith Urban and PJ Harvey, to business events with the World Accountants Congress and International Bar Association,” CEO of ICC Sydney, Geoff Donaghy said.

More than 800 guests filled the Grand Ballroom, invited in thanks for their overwhelming support for the ICC Sydney industry team. The fantastic evening included a bespoke five-course banquet inspired by ICC Sydney’s Feeding Your Performance philosophy, and entertainment from stellar performances by the nations top emerging musicians. ICC Sydney leaders delivered addresses, highlighting the innovation ICC Sydney will bring for future events in Sydney.

“What an event! This amazing venue underscores Sydney’s position as one of the world’s most attractive destinations and will help draw business, experts and events from around the globe to our shores. It’s a game-changer for our city,” CEO of Business Events Sydney, Lyn Lewis-Smith said.
