Northern Territory a big winner at AIME

The Northern Territory Convention Bureau and its five NT Stand partners at AIME 2017 enjoyed a very successful show, leveraging off the ‘star appeal’ of VIP guest, chopper pilot, crocodile hunter and TV personality, Matt Wright.

Wright is the star of the hit National Geographic WILD TV series, ‘Outback Wrangler’ and he was on the NT Stand for the duration of the first day of AIME, as well as attending the Welcome function on the Monday evening.

Wright met with hosted buyers and show visitors in one-on-one in appointments throughout the day.  He talked about “his NT” as well as the exciting experiences available through his tour company, Outback Floatplane Adventures, which operates out of Darwin in the Top End of the Northern Territory.

Some lucky visitors to the NT Stand also received an autographed copy of his recently published book, “The Outback Wrangler. True tales of crocs, choppers and shockers”.

In addition to the 56 appointments handled by the NT Convention Bureau on the Stand over the two days, the Northern Territory was also a stand-out winner at AIME 2017, taking out the “Best Innovative Stand 2017”.

This award acknowledges the use of innovation to further develop the business events industry.  As part of its innovative approach in 2017, the NT arranged for brand ambassadors dressed in bespoke NT fashion representing the NT destinations of Darwin, Alice and Uluru to stroll the AIME show floor during the day, inviting visitors to enjoy some warm NT hospitality during AIME’s Tuesday afternoon Networking Hour.

The lemon myrtle gins and the mango mojitos served on the NT Stand were a big hit, as were the ‘Taste of the Territory’ platters which provided a selection of NT tastes – kangaroo and emu prosciutto, house-smoked barramundi, olive jam, mango salsa, green ant crusted Persian fetta, pickled okra and damper with lemon myrtle and macadamia dukkah.

The NT Convention Bureau was joined at AIME by the Darwin and also the Alice Springs convention centres, accommodation providers Oaks Élan Darwin and also Hilton, representing Hilton Darwin as well as the DoubleTree by Hilton properties located in Darwin and Alice Springs.

NT’s exhibition, themed event and equipment hire company, Fusion Exhibition & Hire Services, also participated on the Stand.
